The Revelation of Life: Daily Reflection

The goal of life is to experience the revelation of life.

Life being the manifestation of the consciousness of oneness; it is a unification of inner and outer realities, a synthesis of systems that achieves a harmonious order of existence through a united effort unto balance and equilibrium.

But what, or who, is alive?

Many and relative are the notions that majority of those experiencing life hold as true. The reality of the Absolute, conversely, presents those whose theories of relativity hold sway over their decision making process with what we know as cognitive dissonance.

Few are they who have truly experienced the fullness of life and have come to embrace the miracle of existence to the point that all illusions and vain pursuits are cast aside.

Being that we are made in the image and likeness of our Creator, it is our mission to bear that reflection in every aspect of our life. This is accomplished, accorded to Maimonides, with the mind, as he informs us

…[a] man’s distinction consists in a property which no other creature on earth possesses, viz., intellectual perception, in the exercise of which he does not employ his senses, nor move his hand or his foot, this perception has been compared–though only apparently, not in truth–to the Divine perception, which requires no corporeal organ. On this account, i.e., on account of the Divine intellect with which man has been endowed, he is said to have been made in the form and likeness of the Almighty, but far from it be the notion that the Supreme Being is corporeal, having a material form.

Rambam. Guide for the Perplexed. Chapter I – pg. 14

Being corporeal and tangible creatures, whose density is heavier and rate of vibration is at a much slower oscillatory frequency than that of Spirit which breathes where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it goes (John 3.8a), it is our task to elevate our consciousness and transcend the physical limitations of the flesh by means of spiritual development. This is underdone through the renewal of the mind unto the transformation of our nature (Romans 12.1-2) and the accomplishment of our ultimate goal of becoming a member of the body of the Messiah and conformed to the image of the Son of Elohim.

Idiomatically, in Israelite culture, this process is innerstood as the circumcision of the heart, or the removal of thoughts that are contrary to those which would edify the body by casting down those that are fruitless and carnal. As we all know, the power of thought ultimately determines the quality of life and that life and death are in the tongue, which speaks from the overflow of the heart. When these matters have been harnessed and controlled, then it can be said that one has experienced the circumcision.

Interestingly, the principle of circumcision is also related to that of idea of rebirth. Associated with the experience of undergoing a spiritual renewal and awakening, it was stated by maran rabbi Yahoshua ben Yoseph, the Mashiyach, that it is only through process of rebirth that one is able to both see and enter the Kingdom of Elohim where true life is found.

That the rebirth has as its catalyst the Torah of יהוה‬ stands alone as an axiomatic principle within Israelite culture, as does the notion that Its Words are the Source of Life for humanity. With this innerstanding, it must be duly noted that synonymously, the Torah is often described as wisdom, or חָכְמָה/chokmah in Hebrew, is perceived of as life, as it is states in Proverbs that she is a tree of life to those who embrace her, and blessed will be all who hold firmly to herWith wisdom comprehended by our ancestors as both the ability to accomplish great matters and the shunning of evil, it is best conceptualized as

proper discernment between good and evil or right and wrong. Wisdom is the divinely created system of rules that governs the “moral fiber” of the universe. To master wisdom is to achieve true and lasting success in life…It includes knowing how to conduct oneself in the practical affairs of everyday life, to make wise choices, to do the right thing in relation to others, and to have insight into the true nature of things. Wisdom of this kind can only grow out of an awareness of [Elohim] and His purpose in the world. [It is made manifest with] self-application; a death of the self so that the collective might live. Love, then, becomes the expression of wisdom (1 Corinthians 13), as much as love is the fulfillment of Torah

It is,therefore, through the application of wisdom in response to the circumcision of the heart and the rebirth of the soul that one is able to position their self to experience the full revelation of life. This process is comparable to the miracles of conception and gestation that give way to our physical birth. By positioning itself in the matrix of the ovum, the sperm then fertilizes the egg which begins conception, hence initiating the development of birth. After a period of 10 months, this new cell matures unto the point of being prepared for delivery. It is at this juncture of time that life is presented a new, with the entrance of the child into the world. For it is this process that spiritually relates to our experience of the revelation of life in that we, too, must undergo a spiritual process of rebirth in order to position ourselves to experience the revelation of life. This occurs when we embrace the Son and become as He, which was confirmed with the Words spoke, informing us that

I am the door. Whoever enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and shall go out and find pastureThe thief does not come except to steal, and to slaughter, and to destroy. I have come that they might possess life, and that they might possess it beyond measure

John 10.9-10
